Utre, a village in Panhala taluka of Kolhapur district, situated roughly 23 km from Kolhapur city, is home to over 500 households.​The name of the village is most likely said to be derived from the marathi word  (उतार)  meaning slope given the settlements located around and along the slope of a central hill. ​Located north to the Kasari river, the village is surrounded by a vast expanse of fields on all sides.
