House 6

The house is occupied by Subhash and his wife, Sangeeta Patil, and their youngest son, Saurabh. Subhash has four brothers, one of whom lives in the house directly in front, creating a compact family cluster along the street.

The spatial organization remains linear, with rooms arranged along a single axis. The kitchen, located at the rear, is the largest space and functions as the main domestic room. The living room opens directly onto the road, with a step down from street level. Previously, the rooms within the mala were used as sleeping spaces, while the third-floor mala functioned as the main storage area. After the demolition of the third floor, the wooden-plank mala is used flexibly, with these rooms repurposed for storage.

The first volume, nearest to the street, is used as sleeping space for Sangeeta and her son; the next room, previously used as a kitchen, is now a storage space; and the third volume overlooks the kitchen and is used to store grains, older household goods, tools, and seasonal equipment. Subhash sleeps on a cot in the kitchen.
